Stop-smoking

Had enough of smoking?

Success story:

…After the first session I was amazed at the result and thought it too good to be true. So when I got home I sat with my wife who is a smoker and told her to light one up. So she did and I was amazed that it did not bother me at all. Furthermore there was no craving for it and to this day I still haven’t had a craving for one….

What is Hypnosis?

Have you ever daydreamed. Got absorbed in a book, or drove somewhere without remembering how you got there? This is the state of hypnosis! It is a normal and natural state of deep relaxation and increased focused concentration. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. You are fully in control and aware of everything that is happening. While in a state of hypnosis your conscious, or critical mind is temporarily bypassed and you can access your subconscious, which is the most powerful part of your mind, where real, lasting change can be made.

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is using the state of hypnosis to bring about change on a subconscious level. It is in the subconscious where our behavior patterns, fears, phobias, self-beliefs and the world around us are held. When we are ready to make a lasting, positive change in our lives, it is these subconscious patterns that we must address and change. In Hypnotherapy the subconscious mind can release the negative, life diminishing unwanted behavior patterns. Thus positive attitudes and behaviours are accepted and the desired change is achieved.

How does it work for stop-smoking?

Smoking has become a habit. Habits are formed over a period of time in the subconscious mind. In Hypnosis we have access to the subconscious mind where we can let go off the old habit and reprogram ourselves. If you are totally decided to give up smoking, this can be very successful in 1 session. Otherwise you might reduce after the first one and then stop after the following sessions, once you have identified any subconscious reasons why you still smoke.

The first sessions starts with an interview. The information obtained from the interview is used to design the specific sessions tailored to your individual needs.

I recommend for lasting effect three sessions, however how many session you have, is up to you. After the third session I give you a CD to listen to at home. Research has shown that multiple session provide a long lasting outcome.

Is it safe?

Yes. When carried out by a professionally trained and skilled hypnotherapist, it is safe, with no harmful side effects.

How will I feel?

You will feel safe, calm and wonderfully relaxed and it is a enjoyable experience. Most of all you are not asleep or unconscious but fully aware and in control of your body and mind. Further you are in control and you can terminate the session at any time.

You cannot be made to do something that you don’t wish to do.

Research:

  • In a recent stop–smoking study where smokers attended individual hypnotherapy sessions for stop-smoking, over 3 session, 81% had stopped smoking after the treatment ended, and at a 12 month follow up, 50% remained smoke free. And 95% of the people were satisfied with their treatment.

  • Hypnosis the most effective way of giving up smoking…according to the largest ever scientific comparison of ways of breaking the habit. Willpower it turns out counts for very little. New Scientist October 1992

Numerous studies have shown that the success for stopping smoking using Hypnotherapy is much higher then nicotine replacement products. In 1968 Von Deneroth reported in the American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis a stop smoking success rate of 94% over an 18 – month period. It is considered that the success rate will depend on the technique used by the hypnotherapist and by the desire for the smoker to stop smoking. Hypnosis works to help people break the habit of smoking. It can also help people become more calm, so that there are little or no withdrawal symptoms on stopping smoking. Many people report how easy it is to stop smoking using hypnosis.
